What makes one a better person is a question of characterit is our moral or ethical strength. This is independent of societal surveillance. Character is, indeed, who we are when no one is looking. There are people with different personality traits, features, thinking, behaviour, temperament and so on, all of this together constitute ones make up.

There is a saying that “your CHARACTER defines you”, logically speaking the saying carries a connotative meaning which is factual. You don’t need to tell me who you are because your attitude will do so. No matter how hard you try to hide it, it comes out. There is a saying that goes thus, that, “character is a smoke”.

So many people forget that the journey does not end here in school but it is the beginning and foundation of life itself. You don’t know what that neighbor, roommate, or the classmate of yours feels when you look down on them. He/she might be the oxygen that your destiny needs to survive at some point, and when your character today lay no footpath to that , then you know what happens.

However, one might be the class representative today it doesn’t mean you will be at the peak. It is just a test of your ability. Being in charge of this responsibilities does not make you rude, arrogant, proud, segregate or oppress others. It is a privilege not a right. Come with it are certain obligations, one of which is needed to instill trust.

The leader who leads through character is focused on creating values and contribution rather than oppressing people (we are all leaders because we are going places). I have seen people who made it through the recommendations of their old school friends just because these people have had an indelible mark or impact on their lives and not an indelible scar.

Don’t talk anyhow to anyone. Bridle your tongue or else it will bundle you and land you in a jungle. Do not think of yourself as being flawless but dwell more on a right character because your CHARACTER is your beauty. Integrity is a good catchword that is similar to character, be a person of integrity.

It is regularly said that honesty is the best policy, but let’s add that honesty is the only policy for great leaders. Think about it. Why do people hedge the truth? Usually for a few basic reasons: They are either afraid of their environment or they are trying to hide something. Either way, lack of honesty results in the fact that you destroy the trust of those who love you.  When people come to know that youre not honest in your dealings, then it becomes your identity. Your reputation is what your life is based on. People will know what you stand for, and make solid decisions to trust and rely on us.

The bitter truth is that we have blind spots, and need other people to be close, so we can advance down the road of success. Don’t be hostile to correction, open up to it. Don’t be a know it all, cause no one is “an Island of knowledge”.The person of good character knows this and  give room for opinions from people to make good decisions to be a better person.

Everybody has temptations, but a person of good character knows to exercise self-controlliteral control over their choices. When people dont exercise self-control, they sabotage their ability to lead. People lose respect for them and will follow less, if at all. Self-control is the ability to choose to do the things we should, and to refrain from doing the things we shouldnt. In fact the ability to control yourself is the maturity in you.

Be a person of good character and be the best you can be for yourself. “Don’t forget your CHARACTER defines you”.
