AFAS Press Deputy Editor-in-Chief Elected as UCJ UI Vice President (Editorial)

Abdulkabeer Tijani, the current deputy Editor-in-Chief of Association of Faculty of Arts Students’ Press (AFAS Press) has been elected as the Vice President (Editorial) of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan.

In a virtually conducted election held on Friday,  March 29, 2024, Abdulkabeer garnered 72 votes leaving his opponent, Olanshile Ogunrinu, with 36 votes. 

According to him, he said that he feels excited as he emerged as the next Editor-In-Chief of UCJ UI, stressing that no stone will be left unturned in the editorial activities.

“I am glad to have emerged as the next Editor-in-Chief of the union. Most importantly, what it means is that I have been charged with the responsibility of ensuring that the editorial activities of the union improve greatly. As it is contained in my manifestoes, I am going to ensure that I do this throughout my tenure in the office.

He also expressed gratitude to campus journalists.

“Once again, I am very grateful for campus journalists for finding me worthy of being the next Editor-in-Chief, this is a popular mandate that I do not take for granted and they are never going to regret it,” he added.
