MSSNUI Faculty of Arts Holds Orientation for New Students

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, University of Ibadan (MSSNUI) Faculty of Arts has held an orientation for new students on Saturday, 11th May, 2024.

The orientation held at the University Central Mosque focused on spiritual growth, goal setting, and stress management.

The first lecture, Navigating University Life as a Muslim, was delivered by Mallam Mustapha Tirimidhi. He advised students to remain focused and reliant on their faith.

He encouraged participation in extracurricular activities while maintaining Islamic values. “Try to involve yourself in extracurricular activities because they will shape your life. While doing so, do not compromise your religion.”

The second lecture, Setting Goals and Achieving Success, was delivered by Abdulrasheed Bello, a first-class graduate of Islamic Studies. He discussed the importance of planning, stressed the role of accountability.

“Identify your goals, prioritize your task, and set deadlines for yourself. Have an accountable partner that you can both visualize your goals and brainstorm together,” he said.

The final lecture, Building Resilience and Coping with Stress, was delivered by Abdulrazaq Hassan. He defined stress as “when you go beyond your limits” and resilience as “when you bounce back from exceeding your limit.”

He encouraged students to seek knowledge with good intentions, always evaluate themselves, and seek support when needed.
