UI Hosts ARCON Team for Accreditation of Architecture Programmes

The University of Ibadan has received a team from the Architecture Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) for an accreditation exercise in the Department of Architecture.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, SAN, received the team on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp.
The ARCON team had arrived at the University of Ibadan for an accreditation exercise in the Department of Architecture.
Professor Bamgbose stated that the University of Ibadan does not treat the accreditation of its programmes lightly. She described accreditation as a peer review mechanism which ensures the effective delivery of academic instructions to impact and sufficiently prepare students for the professional field.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor acknowledged that the regulatory role of the Architecture Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) to ensure professional best practices that meet national and international standards is pertinent.
She stated that the Department of Architecture has the needed resources, infrastructure, and dedicated staff who are noted for hard work and excellence.
The ARCON team included Arc. Festus Fawohunre, Arc. Moyo Uthman, Prof. Olatunde Arayela, Arc. Fatai Falola, and Arc. Adeshina Amoo. They were led to the office of the Vice-Chancellor by the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Professor O. Ipingbemi.
The leader of the team, Arc. Fawohunre said the compliance visit was for the appraisal of the Master of Science programmes in the Department of Architecture.
He stated that the exercise was meant to evaluate the level of man power, resources, infrastructure, student training, and compliance of the Department with the recommendations made during a previous accreditation exercise.
