UI’SU Confirms Congress to Hold Today

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union has officially announced that the suspended Students’ Congress will hold today, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Students’ Union Building (SUB) Foyer at 10: 00 am
In a release signed by the Union’s President, Mr. Covenant Odedele, and the General Secretary, Mr. Segun V. Olowu, the Union urged all students to be present, emphasising that the Congress is a vital platform for collective deliberation on matters affecting the welfare and academic pursuits of students in Nigeria’s premier university.
“Greatest Uites, your participation in this Congress is of paramount importance,” the statement reads in part.
“This platform provides an opportunity for us to collectively deliberate on issues affecting the welfare and academic pursuits of every student within our premier university.”
This announcement comes amidst recent discussions and controversies regarding the scheduling of the Congress, including concerns over security and constitutional procedures.
The statement ends with a call to action: “We implore all students to be present. Your voice matters!”
Regrettably, as at 11:43 am, the Congress is yet to commence with not more than 170 students on the Congress ground.
