The Faculty Legislative Council (FLC) of the Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS) has directed the Association’s Vice-President to refund Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Naira (₦7,250) to the association’s account.
The directive followed the presentation of the 2024/2025 Freshers’ Week report by the Vice-President, Favour Vincent, during the FLC sitting held on Friday, 13th June, 2025. Recall that the Freshers’ Week took place from 14th to 16th May, 2025.
Although the Vice-President explained that some budgeted funds were not spent and that certain expenditures were made outside the approved budget, the FLC maintained that only approved expenditures are recognised. Hence, the sum of ₦7,250 being the balance from the unspent funds must be reimbursed.
As a sanction for misappropriation and breach of trust, the FLC instructed her to issue an apology to the Association by Monday. She was also placed on probation, with a warning that a recurrence would result in punishment as deemed appropriate by the Council.
Similarly, the FLC noted that the disbursement of the ₦50,000 fund meant for Mr. and Miss AFAS will only proceed once the reimbursement is made.
