AFAS FLC Approves #250,000 for House Welfare

The Legislative Council of the Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS FLC) on Friday, 13th of June, 2025, approved a sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand naira to cater for the welfare of the members of the legislative council for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The budget, presented by the chairperson of the welfare committee, Hon. Abigael, entails the proposed budget for refreshments for seven official sittings, valedictory service, and miscellaneous totalling #151,900.

Due to the dissatisfaction of some honourable members with the contents of the budget, the budget saw an inclusion of some items of the refreshment part and increase from the proposed amount to #250,000 including refreshments for new honourable members.

The approved budget now entails #160,900; #108,000 for 4 spoons of rice, one meat, disposable pack for 30 honourable members in 3 sittings ; #48,000 for Meat Pie for 30 honourable members in 4 sittings, and #4,900 for 14 bags of sachet water for the seven official sittings. Other content of the budget includes #72,000 for refreshments for the valedictory service, #7,500 for refreshments for fifteen-to-be honourable members coming to the House on the valedictory service, #5,000 for logistics, and #4,600 for miscellaneous.

The motion for the approval of the budget was moved by Hon. Lawal Abdul-Qayyum from English constituency and seconded by Hon. Abioye.
