Eudamonism or Expectations?

She had always wanted to be free.
Free from the pressure she put on herself
Free from the pressure her society put on her
The pressure of being a first child
The pressure of being, as they call it, brilliant
The pressure of always making it to the most challenging places
The fear of not making it…What sort of a child is she when her parents sweat to provide for her?
But at the end of it all, she can’t even give a penny back
That disappointment and sneering from her siblings when she failed to meet their requirements
Or the mocking giggles from every corner, when the Scholar scores low in a test
Or the Ever-Intelligent, floundering in public speaking
The pressure from friends and family, having very high expectations of her because she is always at the library
She attends the best high school
She attends the First and the Best
Does that really make her the best?
Can’t even the ambitious one fail a little?
Or is the ultimate goal of existence not Eudaimonism?Or is it all about competition?
Does her own comfort and happiness ever matter?Even her own parents only want her to be happy
Why then can’t she live for her own comfort? Eudaimonism is the goal after all!
