OAU Edges UI 1–0 in Sigma Sports Festival Opening Ceremony

As part of the Sigma Sports Festival Opening Ceremony, the female football teams of the University of Ibadan (UI) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) clashed in a spirited encounter on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Old Football Pitch, SUB
The first half ended goalless but was packed with intensity and flashes of brilliance from both sides. The OAU female team came out strong, dominating with a series of threatening attacks, though UI’s defense and goalkeeper held firm.
The second half resumed with OAU pressing even harder. Their dominance continued as they launched wave after wave of attacks. UI’s goalkeeper made several key saves to keep the scoreline level.
However, the deadlock was eventually broken when OAU found the back of the net with a well-taken goal, sealing their 1–0 victory. Their relentless pressure, creative play, and tactical execution earned them a well-deserved win in this exciting female category fixture.
