​UI HOLDS CAREER SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME FOR UNDERGRADUATES

University of Ibadan has held her annual career sensitization for her pen-ultimate and finalist students at Trenchard hall titled Fortifying Nigerian Graduates for the Paradigm Shift in Nigeria Labour Market.

One of the speakers, Professor Adedeji from the Department of Guidance and Counseling, Faculty of Education who spoke on Entrepreneurship; A panacea to Endless Graduate Job Search, said that the search for graduate job could be frustrating especially in Nigeria.

He however mentioned that unemployment is a choice in Nigeria today. 

He told the students to consistently ask themselves which relate to the type of person they would like to be after 5years, to ask if they well experienced and if their course of study can fetch them a job. 

 Another speaker, Mr. Adekunle Adekola spoke on availability of competent graduates. 

In his speech he spoke about the current trends in recruitment drive such as visual interview, computer based operation and semi-automatic hire base. 

He educated the students on how to write a winning CV while he advised the need to send ‘a thank you’ email for every interview.
