JCIN UI, OYO MINISTRY OF HEALTH, OTHERS CLEAN UP AJIBODE ENVIRON
The Junior Chamber International, University of Ibadan in partnership with the Ibadan Volunteers Hub, Oyo State Ministry of Health, WestAfricaENGR and AISIEC have recently conducted a cleaning exercise around Ajibode, University of Ibadan environ.
The cleaning exercise which was carried out in commemoration of the World Clean-up Day involved cleaning of gutters, sweeping, gathering and disposal of refuses, among others.
Speaking on the exercise, the president of JCI, Ayodele Oluwatobi said, “it is a social action taken to make sure we have a better life and a clean Nigeria. This started in Estonia where 5% of their population came out to clean up their communities and it was adopted by JCI, Nigeria as a campaign.
Ayodele described the process as an opportunity to showcase how young people can take actions towards making the environment better. He added that the waste gathered would be sent to the waste management department while revealing that the ones which could be recycled like bottles, would be sent to the Panacea Project.
Also, head of the Clean-up Exercise Committee, Miss Adeola Oluwafunmilola while appreciating the efforts of the volunteers said it is necessary for everyone to get conscious about the environment they live in. “Making our environment a hygienic place to live in is necessary for our health and development” she added.
