LIFE AND BOOK OF LIFE: IT DOES NOT END WHERE YOU THINK
Life is something that pushes us around and when it does, we just have to learn the lessons and progress. When such happens, we should not feel depressed but rather learn from what had happened in that place or from such situation and keep forging ahead. On a different level, some of us may have asked for a substantial amount of money when leaving for school but quite disappointedly, we were given far below expectation. But what can we do? We can only accept what has been given to us by our parents. Life is not perfect and we cannot have everything we want, we either get something or nothing at all. According to Tolstoy, “Everything comes in time to him who knows how to wait”. Do not join bad peer groups in other to have fame, gain power or wealth because at the end of the day, they will only fade away fame and ruin one’s life forever. In the long run, we have learnt that patience is the key to everything as the devil only collects a thousand folds when he gives us a dime or quid.
We have come to school to meet people from different corners of the country or even the world. Some are intelligent students, some are average, some are geniuses while some are not that intelligent, but as far we were all able to write WAEC, NECO JAMB and POST-UTME and then gain admission into this prestigious institution, everyone who is privileged to be here is intelligent. As the routinely Book of Life (BOL) will be coming out in a couple of weeks, we should not kill ourselves whatever the outcome may be. Life does not end if the outcome is not as expected but rather putting in our best next time so that the still standing sun can dry our clothes before the fall of the night. The only problem encountered must have been a low level of preparedness but can be worked on if we put more efforts. Appreciating one’s course of study is also important and we can only perform better and be impactful when we appreciate them.
In addition, if you had made good CGPA, keep it up and do not relent because anything can happen in the course of still being an undergraduate. Tsunami is a big disaster and it takes anyone regardless of their level in school, it is not limited to some set of people. It is something that could affect anyone if they relent or they are not serious. It is a friend to whomever wants it. In order to avoid it, we can always try to encourage and motivate ourselves and others to do better this semester.
Truly, our primary assignment in school is to learn, pass exams, acquire sound knowledge and make a good CGPA but we should also know that life is not just based on books. Life is beyond spending our lives reading school recommended books or watching movies. It is beyond what happens in movies as things do not always have a happy ending in reality. Everything has a procedure and when we try to jump from one stage to another to achieve what we want, we may have a problem. Engaging in extracurricular activities like joining the press organization, representing one’s department at the legislative council, being a member of the literary and debating club as well as taking up leadership positions are also other aspects of life we can benefit from. We should also endeavor to make friends as much as possible who will be of impact. Begin to build good relationships, you will need them for the future.
Most likely, some of us were given a course different from the one we originally applied for but we should not allow that to weigh us down. If what is worth doing is worth doing well, all we can do is to embrace it and give it our all. Surprisingly, at the end of the day, it may just be the life-changing tool that we need than what we initially saw ourselves doing. We can only be at our best when we accept and devote our time to these various courses. Never think of the impossible. Just have this in mind that “possibility is the mother of certainty.” You can! Make sure you start liking what you are doing before you are thrown out of the school system.
Furthermore, you should try to acquire professional skills, be an entrepreneur and take risks since life is all about taking risks. If they work out well enough, good, but if they do not, learn from the mistakes. There is always a room to start all over again.
More importantly, keeping relationships is good but being in one without impacting each other lives positively would not be the ideal thing to do. If the goal of keeping relationships is to only satisfy lustful desires, it then only becomes temporal and one or both parties will be hurt and may wound up in situations beyond control. Leaving our homes to school is sure one way of testing our level of maturity; the practices we indulge in and the decisions we make should be done wisely. Likewise, being able to balance both academics and relationship is also very important as time lost can never be regained.
In conclusion, life is never smooth-sailing and will be full of challenges. It might throw shades at you either in school, at home, and place of work. It will pull you down and even bring out the worst form of humiliation. Always embrace what happens and move on. The difference between sadness and happiness, success and failure, is just the time frame. All that is required is patience, resilience, prayer, hard work and determination.
