​NIGERIAN MALE BASKETBALL TEAM QUALIFIES FOR WORLD CUP

The representatives of the Nigerian male basketball team saw off their counterparts from the Central African Republic on Saturday, 15th of September, 2018 to seal their spot as the first African team to qualify for the FIBA men’s world cup to be hosted in China.

Riding on an eight game winning streak, D’Tigers easily defeated the Central Africans, as they were only able to register 69 points as against Nigeria’s 114. 

The match was played at the indoor sports hall, national Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Players such as Ike Iroegbu, Ike Nwanu, Ben Uzoh, Al Faruq Aminu, Stan Okoye, and Alade Aminu were all raking double digits’ points.

The only headache in the qualifying phase came from the Ivorians, with D’Tigers prevailing in the end with 84 to 73 in the first game of the qualifying process. The FIBA World Cup is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 15, 2019.
