​MOVIE REVIEW OF PERFECT ROMANCE BY PENSDOWN

Let’s talk. I find it so unbelievable that most people are yet to watch the movie, Perfect Romance. It was like ‘oh! Really? Because, that is just one movie everyone should have seen!’ But not to worry; this week, we bring you the review of one movie you would be eager to see.

Tell me, who hates red roses but like chocolate cakes? Okay; yea; I know right? Is that not quite ironical? Why would someone, most especially a lady, like chocolate cakes but hate red roses? With a dirty smirk on our faces, we ladies would be like; ‘that’s so weird’. But then, Vivian, one of the main characters in the movie hates red roses but becomes a glutton at the sight of chocolate cakes. But that isn’t the main focus in this movie. Vivian likes chocolate? Nah! It is chocolate cakes creating the perfect match ever!

So, here is the gist. Vivian wakes up in the morning to talk to her sister which is later seen to be a habitual action in which they both discuss all their daily activities, emotions and reactions with each other. But then, she has this imperfect but all-in-suit boss who she is crushing on. This becomes obvious to her co-workers at work who terms it, her feeling, as a perfect match. Okay, the thing is- My Perfect Match is an application planned and created by Vivian. This project gets approved by the super attractive boss, the famous Wes Robinson who heads his family’s tech company.

In order to promote the app and convince people to make use of it, they go on a TV program, organized by Wes’s younger brother. There, they agree to make use of the app themselves and bring along with them to the show on Valentine’s Day, their perfect matches. Wes agrees with both of them while Vivian feels uncomfortable with the plan. Vivian afterwards goes on various dates with several men which of course got videoed on air while Wes seemed to be uninterested in it. 

Vivian and Wes go to his brother’s wedding all thanks to the ‘working’ secretary who convinced her to go. Things gets cosy between them both and they end up…kissing… they run out of the wedding and Wes drives her home. When she invites Wes for coffee, he finally tells her that the numbers of downloads for My Perfect Match has gone down beyond expectation. Vivian feels betrayed and walks out on Wes. At work, they both put on an abnormal act towards each other still the Valentine’s Day when Wes professed his love for Vivian live on TV.

So then, who still likes chocolate cakes but hates red roses? So My Perfect Match, although not successful, helps the character to understand the issue of compatibility and sincerity when it comes to the issue of relationships. How does this two help two different set of people realise the feelings they have towards each other and how their compatibility can help to sustain it.

Now to you guys. What stops you from telling that special girl how much you really like her? Or should I just say; love? In this movie, one could listen to Wes hidden but desperate emotion while trying to convince Vivian to go with him on air and to his brother’s wedding. The guy kept on saying: ‘I need you’ as though she were a mind reader and then, he begins to provide for her clues and food for thought lines for her to reason with him. He gave her the usual guy’s line like: ‘chemistry’ and ‘I had my eyes on someone else but she left before I could tell her.’ And how was she to know that he was referring to her?

Then, to the good siblings and friends who know when just to act and when to pretend not to see anything. Wes’s brother was just so cute and romantic all the way. He tried not to interfere in his brother’s affairs and allowed him to slowly discover himself and that part of him that loves; truly loves. And Vivian’s co-workers, they are just the very best friends one can ask for.

And yes! Chocolate and red roses; I would not forget that. When Vivian began to call Wes ‘Wes’; she told him how she never saw her father who left the house to get their mother some red roses. And chocolates, they are just her best cost.

So, when next you want to watch a movie, make sure it is Perfect Romance.
