The competition is a biennial international association football competition which is contested by the 55 senior men national teams of the members of UEFA. The competition was adopted in Astana in the 27th of March 2018 in one of UEFA congress.
The competition was mainly adopted to eradicate what was called “meaning less international friendlies”. But from the look of things, the competition is going to have some negative effects on top flight club across the major European leagues.

One of the negative effects the competition will have on top flights clubs in Europe is injuries/fatigue. It is a tradition in Europe that most managers feel reluctant in allowing their best players go on international break due to fear for injuries/fatigue. Then it was an ordinary friendly match. Now it is a competition with a lot of reward attached to it, which will increase the chances of players being injured.

Another possible negative effect is concentration and commitment. Most competitions that are on the same level with this new competition —the likes of World Cup, UEFA championship, Copa America, AFCON and so on— mostly come up during the summer break, which might tend not to affect the concentration of players with their various clubs. But this new league will be coming up on FIFA’s international friendly calendar; this will surely affect players’ commitment and concentration.

In conclusion, to avoid all these negativity befalling clubs in Europe and affecting the productivity of their players, it will be advised this league is scrapped or slated for another feasible time for it to take place.
