Administrators of higher institutions have been urged to establish strong feedback with the employers of labour and the parents in order to measure the quality of graduates.
This call was made by a professor of Educational Management; Prof. Adebola O. Jaiyeoba while delivering the 448th inaugural lecture of the university of Ibadan titled, “Management: The key to institutional success” on behalf of the Faculty of Education and her department, Educational Management.
According to her, achieving institutional goals is the duty of all stakeholders and as a result, both the employers of labour and the parents must be onboard. She also called for regular market survey in order to study why many graduates turned out yearly cannot boast of employment.
Meanwhile, Prof. Jaiyeoba has recommended that a basic course in management should be introduced to all undergraduates of higher institutions.
“Introduce a basic course in management to all undergraduates. It will go a long way to equip them for their future endeavours.” She said.
Some of the other recommendations are regular training of management, ensuring that the right man is put on the job, subsidization of education in both federal and private universities, and so on.
Present at the lecture were spouse of the lecturer and former Vice-Chanceloor, Ajayi Crowther University; Prof. K. Jaiyeoba, Emeritus Prof. PAI Obanya of the Institute of Education, University of Ibadan, principal officers of the university and others.
