Professor J.O Adejinmi of the department of Veterinary Parasitology and Entomology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has said that anyone in the position of trust who ought to do what is right and just but engages in self-enrichment at the expense of the system is a parasite.
Prof. Adejinmi, said this while delivering the 449th inaugural lecture in University of Ibadan on the topic, “Parasite: Pedestal Threats to Public Vigour” recently, at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.
According to him, human parasites like animal parasites can be classified into Endo parasites and Ecto parasites.
He said, “Endo parasites are within Nigeria and Ecto parasites are outside Nigeria which are classified as invaders from far and near countries. They come under different names like Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen, Jihadist and tribal militant. To ordinary Nigeria masses, they are thieves, armed or pen robbers; to literate society, they are fraudster, embezzlers, and rogues.”
Further, he described these parasites as grasshopper, jackals, and hyenas in the political setting
He concluded that the human parasites have in gloriously turned our democracy to parasitocracy that is, government of parasites by parasites and for parasites and called for the need to get rid of them.
