OSINBAJO CHARGES THE YOUTH TO STEM THE TIDE OF UNEMPLOYMENT

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has charged all the youth to stem the tide of unemployment in Nigeria through profitable enterprises.
He said this while speaking on “Developing the Nation through Youth Empowerment” at the occasion of Sigma Club’s annual public lecture on Saturday, 27th October, 2018 to commemorate the club’s 68th anniversary at the International Conference Centre (ICC), University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

He also charged all the youths to rise and strategically apply the lessons from the lecture in profitable enterprises that will help stem the tide of youth unemployment in the country.
While blaming the low rate of development on the ills of corruption, he called for investments in infrastructure and agriculture so as to avoid mindless looting.
Meanwhile, he revealed that the future of jobs is in technology and innovation and the government is trying all they can in achieving it.

In his conclusion, he also urged the youths to be vigilant and take time to study the facts and hold their leaders accountable as the future indeed belongs to the youth.

In addition, the event witnessed the presentation of the Sigma Tertiary Essay Competition awards. The winners were Mustapha Habeeb Segun from Obafemi Awolowo University, awarded with the sum of #30,000; the second prize winner, Olagunju Juwon from Law, University of Ibadan, awarded with the sum of #70,000 and the first prize winner, Arinola Barnabas also from Law, University of Ibadan, awarded with the sum of #100,000.
