G.O.A.T OF G.O.T
Maisie Williams
Popularly known as Arya Stark in one of the most controversial movie series of all times, Game of Thrones. She was born on the 15th of April, 1997 in Bristol England, United Kingdom. She attended Norton Hill School in the United Kingdom.
She rose into stardom in 2011 when she made her professional acting debut as Arya Stark in Game of Thrones. At the beginning of the series, Maisie Williams was only 11 years old. She is one of the few characters that were in the series from the beginning to the end.To a lot of Game of Thrones fans, she was an ideal character; she got into the hearts of so many for some of the following reasons:
She played the character of a friend indeed. Remember when Joffrey acted like a bully and was tormenting the butcher’s son? Arya stands up for her friend, hits the king’s son thereby putting herself at risk for a friend. She saves her friend and loses her werewolf. It was a great price for her to pay, but at least, she was able to save a human life.
Arya Stark defends her family’s honour. This was her motivation from season one to the last season of Game of Thrones. She pursues revenge mainly for her family and not because she was interested in who sat on the Iron throne. She carried her family name like a prized possession and this is why she kills Frey and his sons who were responsible for the killing of her mother and brother and before Frey dies, she tells him, “I am Arya Stark, and I want you to know that.” This shows the length she would go to protect her family’s honour.
Arya defied gender stereotypes. She did not adhere to the conventions that define what a lady from an honourable house like hers should look like. She was not interested in the petty things that ladies were expected to do. While her elder sister learnt needle work, she was learning the mastery of her needle (sword). At the beginning of the series, learning how to fight was just a hobby for her as well as dressing like a boy, she never knew that this was going to save her life after her father’s death.
Arya was emotionally intelligent and this was one of those attributes that made her a real MVP to all lovers of Game of Thrones. After her father’s death, she brazed up to face the realities of life. She had to do very difficult things to survive which included serving Tywin Lannister. She is so smart that she was able to convince Tywin Lannister that she was a boy and this enabled her to know the next step that the Lannisters would take.
She is a goal getter. Arya knows what she wants and she is driven by her vision. After her encounter and victory against the Night King, she decides to go in search for knowledge and not for the white throne. Her victory did not blind her into believing that she should rule. Through her victory, the whole of Westoros is saved.
Some regard her as the G.O.A.T of G.O.T. Her character is richly developed and is used as a fictional recourse to tell that even in historical times, women achieved feats.
