A Bird at Hand, but still a Few More in the Bush – on the Field with AFAS Sports

Three hundred levels keep winning, the rest keep training; it’s all bliss for now, but the faculty football team cannot afford to take its foot off the accelerator – AFAS Press writer keeps you abreast with happenings on the sports field.
On Saturday, a single goal proved the difference between the 300-level Arts team and its Social Sciences counterpart in the second group fixtures of the 300-level Inter-Faculty Competition. Gbotemi’s goal ensured that Arts remain top of the table heading into the final round of the group fixtures. And this win over a star-studded Social Sciences side says a lot about the quality of our own team, especially since it’s coming at the back of the 5-1 demolition of Technology last weekend. Three hundred level Arts are on fire, some people might say.
Moreover, the rest of the team continued their training in preparation for the upcoming general competitions. Trainings are during the weekend: Fridays and Sundays. Attendance is comfortably high, at least comparatively so; nothing is off course.
But we cannot afford to relax. Murphy’s Law – an age-old adage – comes to mind: if anything can go wrong, it will, and at the worst possible time. So our intensity must not subside; our enthusiasm must not wane. We have a bird at hand, but there’s still a few more in the bush; and we must get those too.
