THE ALLERGY OF NIGERIAN LEADERSHIP, DOGMATISM OF SECURITY FORCES AND NAIVETY OF THE NIGERIAN POPULACE

One of the characteristics of a democratic state is public opiniona process whereby citizens express their feelings on the political activities of their country. It is however amazing to discover that the case of Nigeria is an interesting one as its leadership has proven to be allergic to the grievances and opinions of its citizens. In the meantime, there have been arrests of political activists and concerned Nigerians for expressing their view on the governance of the present administration.

What adjective can best describe a leadership that calls its critics enemies of progress even when the country is a million times retrogressing under her watch? One of the costliest mistakes of Baba Iyabo was the ‘So Long a Letter’ he wrote, even though he is a potential candidate of hell. Well, he might have forgotten that his Excellency reacts to cartoon better. Moreso, the commentaries of prominent Nigerians like Nobel laureate Soyinka and respected Crowns have revealed them to be principalities and powers working against national Growth, Peace and Unity.

I must applaud the government for treating the #RevolutionIsNow protest like a sumptuous delicacy on the king’s table. Of course elections are won through the ballots and not Revolution. I meant a mere peaceful revolutionary protest with arms and ammunitions better than ones with which the herdsmen hunts men! Excuse me, are we in a civilian world? I have heard of the arrests of people who wrote to voice their aggression against the government. I am sure I might be hunted too because of this article.

In relating the Naivety of most Nigerians, it is an understatement to say it is high as Everest. As a result, many people have lost their lives. Oftentimes I wonder if their souls are resting in peace, having died while they engaged in protest march they are naive of its objectives. Among these people are the Amebos, traders, youths and so sad to say, the educated ones. However we must remember those killed, resulting from the brutality of the Nigerian Police. The recently killed ChannelsTv Journalist and serving corp member who died and others left with eternal scars are remembered.

However, the stupidity and dogmatism of the Nigerian Forces should not be a leftover on the table of justice. I believe the primary aim of the Police is saving lives and properties and ensuring law and order. I can only imagine what kind of peace they would maintain in a social gathering with only kóndó or Kòbókò, if not by straying bullets as stated in the order given by the government against his critics. Nigeria has the best force ever, I hail!

But then, one must not sit and watch as our beloved nation is being messed up with elegance every day. No, this menace must stop!

For a better Nigeria, the government must subscribe to the fact that they are elected by the people and must be accountable to their wishes. Also, while we clamour for a change in governance, we must also note that “Mind Revolution” comes first for a comity of people who likes to smile while they struggle. Lastly, I suggest that security personnel are thoroughly synchronized, filtered and well groomed for the betterment in their discharge of duties and safety of lives.
