INTER-FACULTY FOOTBALL: FACULTY OF ARTS GETS FIRST WIN
By Sadiq Tajudeen
The Faculty of Arts football team defeated their counterparts in the Sciences one-nil at the Old Stadium on Thursday in their second group game in the on-going Inter-faculty Football Competition.
A bit of ill luck in the form of a missed penalty forced them to a 1-1 draw in their opening game against Veterinary Medicine, but the Arts side got it right the second time with a win, albeit a narrow one.
Both Arts and Science having one point each went into the game in much need of a win yet, despite the enthusiasm from both sides, they ended the first-half goalless. But with ten minutes to the end of the game, Theatre Arts forward Andy scored what turned out to be the only goal, securing all three points, and fortifying hopes of qualification to the knockout stages.
Arts and Renewable Natural Resources now sit at the top of group D with four points each, followed by Science and Veterinary Medicine with single points.
Arts will now face Renewable Natural Resources at the Old Stadium S.U.B Pitch at 3pm on Tuesday, while Science faces Veterinary Medicine the same time at Awo Stadium, in what will be the last round of group games.
