LOVE, LOST, LUST
POE
There are thousands of questions to be asked the concerning love. Love has a big question mark, one that even philosophers find hard to explain. They brood, think, theorize, fantasize and in the end, they come up with thoughts they do not believe. Can there be a holistic thought as to the general nature of love? Do we, in this generation of audio loving, internet dating and features texts on the mellifluous nature of being, really have love, I mean the undiluted , sublime, divine music of true love? Or is the feeling we call love a corrupted reflection of what exist in the world of forms and ideal? This piece is set to ask questions, put thoughts in our heart, verify the humanity in the contemporary show of our automated loving.
The oxford dictionary says love is a deep feeling of affection towards something or someonea very sad definition, or myopic than sad. I have really had an extreme reservation pertaining what we call love in this generation. I paint a picture. You are on the road, you see a lady whose beauty is akin to the web spurn but the deadly songs of Circes to wandering sailors. Your friends catch you staring at her. They laugh, and the next thing you say is, I love that girl. This is how impassionate the love we profess is, governed by the thousand deaths of our contemporary longings. Love is more than the lust in the eyes of our being. Love is seeing with the eyes of angels, and living the reckless lives of demons. It a twin feeling of evil of pain, terror and woe, hate and disgust, yet warmth and peace. It is peace to a heart who really understands it. Another question, can we really understand love?
The hydra headed monster that has eaten deep into the demur construction of our being. It is a lost lust that we show. More like a face level I love you and nothing remains. We hateour hate conditioned by several sentiments; religion, tribe, ideology. We decide to allow this hate live our lives for us, laughing tongue in cheek, allowing the being of paper ideology, paper religion steal the value of our humanity. Our word is a binary, our contemporary world. A binary of gay and straight, bi and tri, rosary and Koran, sexism, feminism, and all those thoughts we hope will just be theories. These binaries become the god in their relation with people. We dont see people for people any more, we see these binaries, we see this you are this I am that therefore we cannot co exist. In this world, gods become the binaries, gods become a mind game played on the weakest of all, gods become a survival technique, and gods become scepter, crowns and commands.
But all these, the binaries, the divide, the concept of to be or not to be, the concept of the sublimity of love, are natural. Love is a being we cant really come to comprehend, a being we cant really live with or in or by or through, or whatever proposition that goes with the living. Romeo tried. Romeo and Juliet were caught in the throes of the divine love, but they died, they took their lives. We cannot live in that love, that love of truth and sincerity. It is part of the corrupted flaws of our creation, we cannot love. But in all, we can try. There is a space for mans effort; we live by trying and not allowing the fear of our humanity hook us to the nature of animals. Divine natural or not, the lost lust that we show is a matter of choice, we choose to be cold dwellers in the city of want and desires. We can try. We can love above the binaries, we can hold hands with our brothers, connected by our being humans, we can hold hands with our sisters connected by our being humans. Love is a major differentiating factor between humans and core animals. Love for ourselves, genuine love for our being, and genuine love for the totality of our faithless, white or black souls.
