JAW WAR ’19: “I was confident in my speakers; I don’t regret them representing us”—Eniafe Savage

Eniafe Savage, the team head for the faculty of Arts Literary and Debating Society, has stated explicitly that he was confident in the set of speakers that represented the association in the final round of JAW WAR.

This he related to the press following the loss of the faculty in the final rounds of JAW WAR 2019 held at Trenchard Hall on Friday, 13th of December.

According to him, “things do not always work out as they should but nevertheless, he was proud of the team. They had all worked hard and did great jobs as getting to the finals alone was not an easy task”.

The final rounds of JAW WAR saw the premier faculty emerge with a total score of 63.1 as against their opponent, Faculty of Science, who had a total score of 69.4
While it would be recalled that the Sciences had not as been as impressive as the faculty of Arts at successive rounds of JAW WAR, Savage asserted that the faculty of Science were formidable opponents who were never to be underestimated.

“This just proves my stance that no opponent is to be taken for granted. This year’s tournament was full of surprises from the beginning”.

Speaking on lessons learnt and other requirement needed to help the team get to the top in next year’s speaking tournament, Savage emphasized on more preparation, funding and publicity.

“Preparation is never enough. I must say I am also confident in the future of the faculty Literary and debating team. On the issue of funds to run our activities, the president of the association has reached out to us and we are working together. Not just the funds, they can also help us by raising awareness too”.
