Having passed the first and second reading, the bills were finally signed into law on 21st April, 2021, where the house received a letter of assent from the president of the faculty association, during the FLC sitting that held on the said date.

The Budget Scrutiny Amendment bill which has now become a law, amongst other provisions, provides that a letter stating the intention to present a budget, as well as the nature of the budget must be submitted to the House. All budget shall be submitted to the office of the Clerk of the House, at least 48 hours before presentation.

The FLC Committee Reform bill on the other hand was passed to improve the participation of all legislators in the House. The new law will ensure professionalism amongst the honorable members and improve the workings of various committees in the House.

The two bills were sponsored by the former Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olumide Osinuga, to improve legislative affairs in the House. The bills, which had been approved by the House in 2020, could not be assented to law due to a number of reasons.
