AVMS Honours Late Professors

In her annual public lecture, the Association of Veterinary Medical Students, University of Ibadan(AVMS UI) honoured memories of the late Professors David Olaleye and B.O Oke who died from Covid-19 complications. Members of the association stood in a one-minute silence to acknowledge the memories of the late professors

The public lecture which themed: Veterinarians: Protecting The Health of Animals and Humans for National Development was held on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

The first speaker at the event, Prof. Christian Happi, a professor of Molecular Biology and Genomics and the Director of The World Bank funded African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), spoke on the ability to solve problems in animals and how science has evolved, using genomic data.

Other speakers at the lecture include Dr Gani Enahoro, the chairman of the continuing education committee, Veterinary Council of Nigeria, who joined virtually and Dr Oladapo Abiodun, who represented Dr Laide Sadia, the Director of Veterinary Services in Oyo state.
