AFAS SUB-DEAN GIVES REASON FOR CHANGE IN CGPA REQUIREMENT FOR ASPIRANTS

Following the recent raise in CGPA requirements for aspirants contesting executive positions within the faculty, the Sub-Dean of the Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS), Dr Tunde Blavo, has explained the reason for the change. “The change was made to ensure that the faculty produces leaders who are not mediocres,” he said. He went further to explain that the decision was taken to filter the kinds of aspirants that will be contesting the available positions and as well produce outstanding student leaders.

The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Albert Oyeshile, also shared the same opinion as he admonished students to take their studies seriously. According to him, “the primary reason we are here is scholarship,” he said. He also urged students to ensure that they adhere strictly to COVID-19 protocols and non-pharmaceutical procedures.

After giving a report on the state of the faculty library and assuring students that work is ongoing there, he admonished the students to learn the university’s anthem by heart and also revealed his intention to organize inter-departmental oratory competitions.

All of these were provided as answers to questions asked by AFASites, during a question and answer session at the AFAS and I event which took place at the faculty quadrangle. AFAS and I is an annual event organized to give students the opportunity to meet with the Faculty Dean, Sub-Dean, and other principal officers in the faculty. It also gives AFASites the opportunity to ask important questions concerning the faculty.
