CGPA REQUIREMENT FOR ASPIRANTS RAISED TO 3.0

In a broadcast message signed by the Afas Independent Electoral Committee and circulated by the Public Relations Officer, Osuolale Omowunmi, it has been stated that the CGPA requirements for contesting executive positions within the faculty has been raised from 2.5 to 3.0.
“From faculty authorities, the required CGPA which was broadcasted stating 2.5 has been changed to 3.0”, the message reads.

This development has generated questions from AFASites. When asked if there is any reason for the raise in the CGPA requirement,, the CPS chairman, Oguntijebu Shumpeter, said he was not aware of the reason as at that time as he was just hearing of the new development.
However, the in a question and answer session, called AFAS and I, the Sub-Dean, Dr. Tunde Blavo asserted that the reason for the change was to raise student leaders who are outstanding and not mediocres.

The Brodcast message also stated the level requirements for aspirants. For the position of the President, only current 300 level students can contest; students in 200 level and above can contest the positions of the Vice president, General Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Social and Welfare, Director of information and Director of Sports; 100 level students can only contest the position of the Assistant General Secretary.
It should be noted that the ban on electoral activities was lifted earlier in the week, following the inauguration of AFASIEC, Afas Independent Electoral Committee.
