Afas Press: What do you do?
Afas Press : May we know you?
Aanu: I’m Aanuoluwapo Adepoju, also known as Prominence. I’m a 300 level student of Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts.
Aanu: I’m crazy about personal development, a leadership enthusiast.
I like using storytelling to communicate my thoughts. I’m also a social media strategist. And recently I started a career path in corporate event hosting. I also volunteer a lot.
Afas Press: Well done. By a social media strategist, what do you mean?
Aanu: I mean using the social media to create visibility and build up personal brands that will last over time and not lose their relevance.
Afas Press : This is quite a good idea. With all you do, you must have a good command of the social media. How do you handle your social media?
Aanu: I handle my social media the same way everybody uses it, but i make sure I use it as a medium to communicate things I do on various platforms. And sometimes I multiply attention, write a post on Twitter, edit it well post on IG , linkedln and sometimes my WhatsApp status.
I believe my audience are everywhere.
Afas Press : I get you. So what I mean is, how easy do you find it to maintain your media platforms and post on often? I mean, it’s not do easy a thing, especially when you have to edit before posting.
Aanu: I don’t post every day. What I do every month is to take maybe 2 or 3 days in the week, prepare a content calendar for those days.
During my leisure, I write a lot of things in my keep notes and Twitter drafts.
Afas Press : You didn’t mention in your introduction, but I know you’re a member of Afas Flc. So what office do you occupy?
Aanu: Ahhhh! I’m an honourable member of the Afas Flc. I hold the position of the chief whip at the council.
Afas Press: Most Afasites would have at a point in time heard about the Afas Flc but perhaps not all know what you do.
So what does the Afas FLC do?
Aanu: The same way the Nigerian government has a house of representatives and different honorable members representing their various localities.
The AFAS Flc is the faculty legislative council, where we have various honorable members represent their constituencies for the progress of the association.
We hold plenary sessions where 36 honorable members from the 12 departments of the faculty come together to discuss over the progress of the association.
Afas Press: How has being a corporate event host been for you?
When did you start and what can you say is your highlight so far?
Aanu: Corporate event hosting has been a side hustle for me. I call it my urgent 2k. I started sometimes last year in a church youth gathering, the outcome of the event made me to fall in love with it.
I also hosted an event with a group of friends sometimes last month at Palm malls tagged Sharwama and Stories, it was massive, it gave me confidence which gave me the go ahead to add it to my bio on my social media handle.
Afas Press: Interesting!
I also have it that you are the manager of LogisticsbyArab.
Aanu: Yes. I manage the brand with my principal who happens to be the Speaker of AFAS FLC, Solahudeen Muhammed Akindele also known as Arab Money, WTMG, lol.
Afas Press : What kind of logistics do you offer?
Aanu: The brand is located in Ibadan so we do render delivery services within and outside Ibadan. We are also building International partnerships with brands outside Nigeria for smooth international deliveries.
Afas Press: Great stuff.
So your logistics is based on deliveries?
Aanu: Yes. Majorly parcels, goods and packages deliveries.
Afas Press: So as a student that works, how do you create a balance in all you do?
Aanu: I will use this medium to say a ‘Thank you’ to my classmates, most especially Adeyemi Adeyemo. He is my angel when it comes to balancing my academics. He is always on the lookout for me, working with him closely in 200l really helped me and still helping me.
Afas Press: Good for you. When did Logistics by Arab start off?
Aanu: We started our full operation a week ago, and we have been able to cover more than 20 deliveries within and outside Ibadan.
Afas Press : That’s great and awesome! What is your take on politics in the faculty?
Aanu: My take on politics in the faculty is that every individual in the Faculty of Art should be concerned about the leadership in the faculty, know the things going around in the faculty, don’t just stay indifferent. It will be a good thing if Afasites start to attend the plenary sessions and start to know how things are been done in the faculty.
Also choosing leaders should be based on competnecy and past achievements of that individual.
