Honourable Soji emerges new speaker as FLC holds valedictory sitting.

Honourable Akindejoye Olasoji, representing Linguistics and African Language constituency, has been elected the new speaker of AFAS Legislative Council. The election took place at the valedictory sitting which was held on Friday, 17th December 2021 at Room 33 after the former assembly was dissolved by the Faculty President, Hon. Akinyoola Emmanuel.
Honourable Soji who was nominated alongside the immediate past deputy speaker of the house, Hon. Adebiyi Emmanuel, got 22 votes out of the 28 available votes leaving his opponent with just 5 votes and 1 void.
Addressing the house, the new speaker appreciated the honourables who voted him in and he promised to uphold the tenets of the parliament. He further told the honourables, ‘I will need all hands to be on deck and I will call on any of you for suggestions on how to move the association forward’.
Other principal members of the hallowed chambers elected alongside the speaker were Honourable Shukurat Yusuff; Deputy Speaker, Honourable Ariyibi Ifeoluwa; Clerk, Honourable Yeboah Daniel; Deputy Clerk, Honourable Oladejo Wisdom; Chief Whip, and Honourable Balogun Daniel; Deputy Whip.
New honorables were also welcomed to replace outgoing members of the hallowed chamber.
