Praise Olorunfemi
Just like any other world cup, world cup 2022, has been quite an eventful one. Spectators have been blown out of their predictions and expectations of performances and match results, from countries they least expected results from. The highlight of the upset in this year’s world cup coming from Saudi Arabia after defeating Argentina 2 goals to one in their opening match.
So far so good, in about 8 days into the world cup 2022, 72 matches have been played so far. Groups A and B are done with their group stages match, and the top teams in these groups have qualified for the Knock-out stages, starting with the round of 16. In Group A, Netherlands and Senegal qualified for the round of 16 knock-out stage, with 7 points and 6 points respectively. While in group B, England and United States, have qualified for the round of 16 knockout stages, with 7 points and 5 points respectively.
Some new records and some new facts
The Qataris lost their first match to Ecuador, and became the first host in the history of the world cup, to lose their first match.
Olivier Giroud, a French forward player, has broken the record of Thierry Henry as France’s highest world cup goalscorer, coming to a total of 51 goals after scoring 2 goals in the opening match of France against Australia, which ended in a 4-1 the former scoring all 4 goals.
Saudi Arabia is the first Asian team to ever score more than a goal against Argentina in any World Cup. Saudi Arabia also brought to an abrupt end Argentina’s 36-match winning streak in all international matches. Additionally, it became the first success for a non-European team over Argentina since Cameroon’s triumph in 1990.
After ending the match in a draw against South Korea, Uruguay has been able to go for 450 minutes without giving up a goal in the World Cup group stages.
How would it feel if Cristiano Ronaldo’s inclusion does not spring up here, his penalty goal during the match between Portugal and Ghana, made it the fifth consecutive goal in the world cup by just one player.

Round of 16 fixed
We expect to see more teams from other groups join the qualifying teams from groups A and B, at the round of 16 tables from 4:00 pm today. It is however interesting to note, that an African team, which is Senegal, had already made it to the round of 16 knockout stages, and has been paired against England (hope Africa will not experience another colonisation on the pitch), scheduled to be played on 4th of December 08:00 pm at Al Bayt Stadium. The Netherlands and the United States are paired together, scheduled for 3rd December at 4:00 pm at the Khalifa International Stadium.
