The Students’ Union president of the University of Ibadan, Adeyinka, has endorsed the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, on behalf of the union.
Adeyinka, in a viral video declared that the union will mobilize support for Tinubu at the February 25 presidential election.
Meanwhile, he did not consult with students of the university nor seek their consent before pledging support to Tinubu on behalf of the union.
He made the endorsement at a meeting between the youth representatives of the APC and students’ leaders in the state.
Addressing the audience, Mascot noted that the students’ union had previously mobilized support for Tinubu and will be voting for him in the forthcoming election.
“We mobilized massively and today I am declaring that the support of the premier, university of Ibadan is for Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu,” he declared.
I Made A Mistake — Mascot Reacts
Reacting to the development and the criticism that has followed from students, Mascot explained to IndyPress that he made a mistake at the event.
“I am the current chairman of all Student union Presidents in SouthWest. So at the meeting I was called up to talk and give my popular opinion.
“I made a mistake to say that UI students had endorsed Tinubu. What I want to say is that there is a group of students in UI known as Premier Progressives working for Tinubu,” Mascot noted as he recanted his declaration.
“Personally, I’ll vote for Peter Obi,” he added.
