Super4: Classics trounced Arabic 6 nil to set up a repeat of last year’s Dean’s cup final match with Archaeology.

Goals from Ibrahim (2), Bobola, Gustat, Victor and Haykay saw classics run riot against a lethargic Arabic and Islamic Studies side at the SUB pitch on Wednesday, 29th of March, 2023.

Following the penalty shootout victory of Archaeology and Anthropology department in the first semi-final match of the annual AFAS Super 4 competition, Classics score 2 first half goals and 4 in the second half to head into the finals of the competition in a repeat of last year’s Dean’s cup final where Archaeology department emerged victorious via a lone goal.

Classics largely dominated the game against AIS who showed signs of tiredness as the game grew on. The first goal came from a long range free kick from Bobola, who places a shot down the middle of the post over the out stretch hands of the AIS goal keeper. The second goals came shortly after from a corner kick. Bobola fires a corner kick into the kick, and the ball falls kindly to Gustat releasing a well placed shot from outside the box to the bottom left corner.

It was back to business for Classics at the start of the second half as AIS department could not keep up with the pace of the game. Classics gets a corner at the start of the half and Haykay was there to head home for Classics’ third of the game. Ibrahim gets Classics’ fourth few minutes later with an audacious header from the edge of the penalty area after a cross from arrived from the right wing. Victor was next to join the party slotting past AIS keeper in a one-on-one situation with the keeper. The best goal of the game was Classics’ last goal. Ibrahim gets the ball at the right side dribbles inside the penalty box, rounds the keeper and then leaves the last defender on the floor before passing the ball into an empty net for Classics’ sixth of the match.

Classics will face Archaeology and Anthropology in the final at the SUB pitch on Sunday.
