Breakup is a sad thing that can happen to anyone but what if you breakup with your friend? Who do you turn to then? Who do you call at 2am when you’re desperately missing your ex and crying your heart out? Because friendship breakup only happens when the friendship is really intense, and when it happens, you lose that one person you always turn to in such situations.

It is sad, but not totally avoidable. These are a few things to avoid to prevent breakup between you and your BFF.

Money

A very overlooked factor, to be honest. Being friends with someone for a long span can sometimes lead to a sense of entitlement. Collecting your friend’s properties, borrowing without returning. It takes a very strong friendship to survive a financial argument.

New Relationships

A classic reason of friendship breakup. Your friend gets a girlfriend or boyfriend and now doesn’t have time for you. Even if he/she manages to meet with you, he/she is either accompanied by her/his significant other or can’t wait for your ‘meeting’ to be over so that they can go be with their girlfriend/boyfriend. The friend takes the friendship too much for granted and you are simply not significant in her/his life anymore.

Excess communication or lack

Having a break in a long term friendship is a very human and healthy way to live. Knowing too much can sometimes ruin a friendship. At the same time, lack of communication due to distance, perhaps, can also contribute to a breakup. There is a need for balance in regards to communication between friends.

Involvement of a third person

Third wheels are dangerous sometimes. From turning your friend away from you to simply talking bad about you to them behind your back, these people often take it upon themselves to ruin a perfect friendship! So always trust your gut, not a random person.

Breakup between mutual friends

This mostly occurs in group friendship i.e. friendship between more than 3 people. If any of the people get into a big fight, the others would be forced to pick sides therefore, ruining the friendship.

Secrets

Everybody has secrets but it is important that you try to share as much as you can to those around you. Hiding big secrets might make those close to you feel inadequate or not worthy. The essence of friendship is to have someone or people that you can comfortably rely on.
