In its last sitting, the Faculty Legislative Council approved 127,900 naira for the budget of the Dean’s Cup tournament, 2023/2024 session.

The budget presented to the House by the Faculty of Arts Sports Director, Kolawole Akintomiwa, went through some scrutiny. While some items were scrapped, some were retained and some were adjusted.

The two-page budget contains among other items, the prizes and amounts that will be allotted to each winner and two runner-ups— first, second and third place winners— for the male and female categories. Other items in the budget are officiating fees and graphics design fees. The third-place winner will be getting certificates only which totalled 8,400 naira; 5,400 naira for 18 male players and 3,000 naira for 10 female players. Meanwhile, the second and first place winners will be getting medals totalled at 29,400 naira; 18,900 naira for 18 players and 10,500 naira for 10 players. A total of 47,500 naira was approved as officiating fees for 19 matches for both the male and female categories— 38,000 naira for the former and 9,500 naira for the latter. 6,000 naira was approved for graphics design and a separate 3,000 naira was approved for the design on the certificates. Also, a separate budget for 13 certificates at 3,900 naira was approved for the previous Female Dean’s Cup winners (ASES).

Meanwhile, during the sitting and budget approval, the FLC speaker, Hon. Alagunfon, emphasised that every player to participate in the dean’s cup must have paid her or his AFAS dues for the session before the competition commences.
