AFAS Press Gets New Editorial Board

The Association of Faculty of Arts Students Press Organisation(AFAS Press) has on Tuesday announced the new editorial board for the 2023/2024 session during the organization’s handover at room 36.
Speaking during the handover session, Dr. Kehinde Oyetimi, the organization’s staff adviser, who practiced journalism for a period of 15 years before coming to the academics, commended the outgoing editorial board members, “you have done a fantastic job, although there is always room for improvement,” he said.
Dr. Oyetimi also mentioned that he cannot attest to experiencing the kind of vibrant journalism he expected from AFAS Press Organisation, adding that this might be to the fact that he has just joined the terrain.
The editorial board for the current session consisting of Foyin Ejilola, Editor-in-Chief, Abdulkabeer Tijani, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Praise Olorunfemi, Managing Editor, Igwe Precious, General/Online Editor, Veronica Giwa, Sports Editor, Olanshile Ogunrinu, Politics Editor, Lawal Taiwo Maruf, News Editor, Elabor Awelu, Health Editor, Eniola Awolesi, Entertainment Editor, Opemipo Olukoga, Features Editor was dissolved.
The new editorial board is now headed by Olanshile Ogunrinu, a student of the department of Communication and Language Arts, While Opemipo Olukoga, a student of Linguistics will be the Deputy Editor-In-Chief.
Others are; Praise Olorunfemi, Managing Editor, Eniola Awolesi, General/Online Editor, Lawal Taiwo Maruf, Politics Editor, Elabor Awelu, Health Editor, Oluwatosin Adeoye, News Editor, Agnes Oyedokun, Features Editor, Omolola Sadik, Entertainment Editor, Grace Dolor Sport Editor.
The staff adviser, after inaugurating the new editorial board members, advised that they should live up to the oath they took at the occasion of handover and also ensure they do better especially in the area of media engagement.
“you also must understand, you must engage the virtual spaces, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp and others, because journalism has migrated from the traditional mode,” he said
The event that lasted for about 2 hours was graced with the presence of the President, Union of Campus Journalist, Oluwatobi Odeyinka, and members of other press organizations on campus.
