SU President to Observe Community Service for Constitutional Breach

Bolaji Aweda, the President of the Student Union of the University of Ibadan has been ordered by the Student Representative Council to observe a 48-hour community service at the University’s Health Centre (Jaja Clinic).

This was made known to the public in the resolutions of the second ordinary sitting. The resolution read in part, “Observe 48 hours of community service at the University’s Health Centre(JajaClinic), […] for breaching ARTICLE XIII, Section 3 of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union Constitution.”

Aweda was also told to “write an apology letter to the general student populace and the Student Representative Council for disregarding the rulings of the council and, by extension, the
general student populace.”

In the sitting the Union president presented the Union plans for the 2023/2024 academic session which the Council resolved that the President of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union re-present the plans for the 2023/2024 academic session to the house within forty-eight hours for approval after necessary amendments have been made to the document.
