UI DVC Lauds Enduring Legacies of Late Professor Ayo Banjo
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration, University of Ibadan, Professor Peter Olapegba FNPA, has lauded the enduring legacies of Late Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo as displayed in his meritorious service to humanity and the university community.
He made the remarks on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale mni, FAS, while receiving members of the Nigerian Academy of Letters during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
He described Professor Ayo Banjo as the most profound Vice-Chancellor University of Ibadan has had because of his significant impact on humanity and his enduring legacies.
In his words, he said, “We need to celebrate Professor Ayo Banjo and keep celebrating him”. Adding that UI has already immortalized him while he was alive by naming the Vice-Chancellor’s lodge “Ayo Banjo Manor”.
Explaining the purpose of the visit, The President of the Nigerian Academy of Letters, Professor Akinrinade, said that it was aimed at celebrating the Late Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo at an international symposium organized in his honor as the second president of the Academy and one of its patrons.
While appreciating UI for accommodating the secretariat of the Academy over the years, he noted that UI has the largest and strongest contingent in academics, which is always a pride to meet with them.
He commended the UI community for holding Late Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo in high regard an for the continuous celebration of his legacies.
