Adeniyi Olamilekan-led administration on August 18, 2024, marked its 100 days in office, highlighting the number of achievements the administration has recorded.
This is contained in a release jointly signed by the President, Adeniyi Olamilekan, and the General Secretary, Abiola Samuel.
According to the release, it noted that the administration has achieved “substantial, sustainable, and beneficial accomplishments”.
Amongst the list of achievements highlighted in the release, it stated that the administration has established a relationship with the alumni body, secured internship opportunities for interested AFASites, organized one of the biggest Freshers Welcome, and others.
“Today, 18th August 2024, marks Team New Era’s 100 days in office. Despite several ups and downs, we have achieved substantial, sustainable, and beneficial accomplishments. We are confident that we have made it this far, and we have:
– Had several opportunities to pay courtesy visits to Alumni of the Faculty to get insights, and strengthen the Alumni base of the association, and now we can say we have an alumni body to seek counsel and support from time to time. In the body, we have previous Faculty Presidents and other executives, including members of the Faculty Legislative Council.
– Secured internship opportunities for students of the association to intern at Primus Media Academy. Screening has been done, and students have been selected for the internship program, which will commence after this semester’s exams.
– Organized one of the biggest Fresher welcome events, which started with a gyration tagged “classroom” followed by proper orientation and ended with a variety night where we selected another set of individuals as Mr. & Miss AFAS Fresher.”
Meanwhile, aside from the highlight of achievements recorded, the release stated that the administration will be executing other projects before the end of the first semester.
“While we have accomplished the aforementioned, we are happy to inform you of some upcoming events we have planned to carry out before the end of the first half of our tenure, first semester:
– Partnership with LG company to hold a karaoke for singers, dancers, and other talented students to showcase their talents, and the standing-out students will get a gift from one of their products, while many other giveaways will be given to some attendees. Item 7 will also be guaranteed. This will come up on 23rd August 2024, by 4 pm, Faculty of Arts Small Lecture Theatre.
Also, the administration promised AFASites to anticipate more in the second semester, adding that the administration has not spent any money of the association in the execution of their projects.
“While these are set to be done before the end of this semester, we have other proposed beneficial, entertaining, and educative programs for the second semester, which we won’t disclose now. Being aware that the estimated cost of these aforementioned programs is close to millions, we are confident to tell you that 95% of these programs were sponsored. This means that we have not used the association’s money to carry out any of these events, except for the Variety Night only which the total amount is less than #200,000.”
