“Be Courageous, Resilient, Forthright, and Passionate about Contributing to Nigeria’s Development,” – UI VC Charges Graduands

Professor Kayode Adebowale, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan’s, has urged the institution’s graduating students to drive positive change in Nigeria, leveraging the skills and knowledge gained during their time at the university.

Speaking at the 2024 Convocation ceremonies, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of believing in Nigeria’s rich history and potential to become a leading nation. He encouraged the graduates to utilize their skills and knowledge to propel themselves forward, even in uncertain times.

Dr. Oluseye Alabi, CEO of YSA Energy Services Ltd and UI alumnus, also addressed the graduands, advising them to embrace hard work, diligence, and good character. Alabi stressed the need to say “no” to corruption, vices, and bribery, emphasizing that hard work is the bedrock of accomplishments, while diligence is the pathway to excellence.

A total of 6,553 graduates received degrees, and 111 diplomas were awarded during the ceremony. The university also recognized outstanding students, with 27 First Class distinctions and 66 other notable achievements.
