AFAS Holds Brainstorming Session on Financial Literacy

The Association of Faculty of Arts Students, in collaboration with First City Monument Bank (FCMB), organized a brainstorming session focused on financial literacy and bridging banking services closer to the youth. The event took place on November 22, 2024, in Room 71. Representatives from FCMB were present to educate students on managing their finances effectively.
The first speaker, Mr. Owolabi, delivered an insightful presentation on business planning. He elaborated on key concepts, including vision, goal setting, and strategic planning. Mr. Owolabi distinguished between vision and goal setting, emphasizing their importance in achieving long-term success.
Following his presentation, students were encouraged to share their opinions and provide feedback on the session.
Mr. Bamise Timothy, another representative from FCMB, conducted a session titled “Financial Literacy: Roadmap to Financial Independence.” Using relatable illustrations, he explained practical ways for students to achieve financial independence.
After the second session, students posed various questions, which the representatives addressed thoughtfully and thoroughly.
The brainstorming segment was an interactive part of the event. Students were divided into four groups, and each group was assigned a question to discuss. Their discussions were documented on sheets provided at the beginning of the session.
The event concluded with gratitude expressed by the FCMB representatives, who commended the students for their active participation. This collaborative session served as a valuable platform for students to gain practical knowledge and engage in meaningful discussions about financial literacy and planning.
