Without SRC Screening or Ratification, SUEC Unveils Electoral Commissioners, Lifts Ban

The Students’ Union Electoral Committee has released the names of its Electoral Commission without the screening and/or ratification by the Student Representative Council and the ban on electoral activities for the UISU elections has been lifted.

The names were made available to the public in a release by the Commission titled “Special Release 002,” e-signed by Olanrewaju Ibrahim, Head, Publicity Sub-Committee, and Olaniyi Dolapo, Head, Logistics Sub-Committee. The release affirms that the commission “is pleased to announce its members, inaugurated on January 9, 2025.”

The members and their represented constituencies are Damilare Ogundeji (The Social Sciences), Yusuf Abdulakeem (Faculty of Agriculture), Victor Ezomoh (Ayodele Falase PG Hall), David Bielonwu (Faculty of Science), Omolola Buari (Obafemi Awolowo Hall), Oloyede Darasimi (Faculty of Education), Dare Dolapo (Queen Idia Hall), John Ani (Environmental Design and Management), Peace Adebayo (Abdulsalam Abubakar PG Hall), Habeebllah Adeyemo (Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall).

The members also include Sodeeq Olaniyi (Lord Tedder Hall), Olanrewaju Ibrahim (Renewable Natural Resources), Israel Olajide (Sultan Bello Hall), Toyeeb Adeogun (Faculty of Nursing), Oluwamomi Olubadewo (Adetowun Ogunseye PG Hall), Evangelen Shokunbi (Faculty of Arts), Samuel Oladapo (Ransome Kuti Hall), Basit Azeez (Faculty of Economics), Ayodele Makinde (Kenneth Melanby Hall), Fatihah Abdussalam (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine), Michael Oloruntola (Alexander Brown Hall), Chisom Chukwuma (Faculty of Law), Olatope Ilori (Queen Elizabeth II Hall), Pelumi Ajayi (Faculty of Pharmacy), Collins Aondoaver (Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences), Mosadomi Olumide (Faculty of Technology), and Oluwo Samuel (Faculty of Dentistry).

Recall that there was no screening process earlier announced or ratification of the members from the Students Representative Council, therefore, the members of the committee have been appointed without a due democratic process.

Interested candidates have been advised to obtain forms for Executive and SRC positions at Room 22 of the Students Affairs Division.

The release also listed the position of President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, House Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Office, Sport Secretary available. “Also, the available Legislative positions are Students Representative Council for each halls of residence,” it reads.

Campaign commenced today Saturday,18th of January, 2025 and it is expected to last till Friday, 21st of February, 2025.
