Philosophy, AIS, Classics, and CLA Secure Semi-Final Berth in AFAS Dean’s Cup

The four departmental teams cruised to victory in their quarter-final clashes on Monday at the Old Football Stadium, SUB.
Philosophy, the defending champion of the Faculty of Arts Dean’s Cup, saw off History in a tightly contested match that ended in a penalty shootout victory for the Plato Academy boys. The Philosophy team, after beating European Studies 5-0 in their opening group stage match and playing a 2-2 draw with AIS, finished second in their group, setting up this mouthwatering encounter, which ended in defeat for the Obaro Warriors.
Arabic and Islamic Studies (AIS) defeated English 1-0 to claim a semi-final spot in the AFAS Dean’s Cup. The goal came courtesy of a defensive error from an English department defender, which Baloo capitalized on to give his team the lead, ensuring their progression from the quarter-finals. AIS, after dismantling European Studies 8-0 and playing a 2-2 draw with Philosophy, emerged leaders of their group, setting up the quarter-final clash.
Classics defeated Theatre Arts in a penalty shootout to advance to the last four stage. The quarter-final win followed their two group stage matches: a 3-1 victory over Music and a 0-0 draw with Linguistics.
Communication and Language Arts (CLA) cruised to a 2-0 victory over Linguistics in their quarter-final clash of the AFAS Dean’s Cup. The two goals that secured the win for CLA came courtesy of Qamardeen and Leshi in the second half after being held to a stalemate at halftime. Their progression to the quarter-finals followed a 1-1 draw with Arch/Anth and a 2-0 victory over Theatre Arts in the group stage.
