“Be Humble and God-Conscious,” UI Chief Imam Urges Students

he Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan Central Mosque, Professor Oloyede Abdul-Rahmon, has called on freshly matriculated and other students of the University of Ibadan to cultivate humility and God-consciousness throughout their academic journey.
Speaking on Friday, 25th April, 2025, at a special Jumat service held to welcome Muslim freshers into the Muslim community of the University of Ibadan, Professor Abdul-Rahmon emphasized the importance of good conduct, urging students to respect their peers, lecturers, and the university’s regulations.
He cautioned against involvement in cultism and other social vices, encouraging students to remain steadfast in righteousness and to show compassion towards the less privileged.
Professor Abdul-Rahmon further advised the students to think beyond their immediate stay in the university, reminding them of the importance of giving back to the institution once they achieve success in life.
The Chief Imam concluded the event by offering prayers for the new students and the entire university community.
The special Jumat service was part of the orientation programmes organised by the Students’ Affairs Division to welcome fresh students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
