ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: GENEVIEVE NNAJI TAKES NOLLYWOOD GLOBAL
Genevieve Nnaji is one of the Best and still relevant actors in Nigeria and has somehow managed to stay on top of her game after over two decades (1987-2018) in the movie industry. She has a newly made comedy film titled Lionheart which she also produced and it is an original film from Nigeria which Netflix has acquired for an undisclosed amount which Netflix announced this last Friday at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
Although, other Nigerian movies have made it to Netflix such as Wedding Party, Fifty, The Visit, When Love Happens, Road to Wednesday, Dearest Mummy and others; Lionheart is the first original film to be owned by the American movie streaming platform.
Lionheart is a story of Adaeze, a young lady who steps up to the challenge when her father Chief Ernest Obaguis was forced to take a step back from his company due to health issues. She works with her crude and eccentric brother in order to save the family business which is in serious financial straits and all these things lead to crazy and often hilarious results.
The cast include Genevieve Nnaji, NkemOwoh, Pete Edochie, and Onyeka Onwenu.
Genevieve Nnaji believes the huge success of Lionheart is a vindication for Nollywood because in her statement, she said, ‘We don’t have adequate funding for movies. We actually intend to go global but there isn’t provision for them yet’.
Recently, she also made her declaration on being a proud feminist.
