SIGMA SET TO MARK ITS 70TH YEAR WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SIGMA HOUSE BY 2020

At the Sigma Press Conference hosted at Ransome Kuti Hall Senior Common Room (SCR), the Sigma Chief, Igbonekwu Valentinus has revealed that Sigma has perfected all plans to build a Sigma House within the University premises two years from now to mark its 70 years of existence.
The press conference organized with the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan was to announce to the general public about the upcoming event tagged Sigma Guest Luncheon. During the course of the press conference, Igbonekwu Valentinus, a 500 level student of Law revealed that Sigma would be contributing to humanity cause in the University of Ibadan with the erection of the Sigma House at an unnamed venue in the University community.
According to him, this Sigma house is to contain a hostel, a multi-purpose hall, cinema, gym, banking hall, bars, restaurant, stores, and so on. In addition, the Sigma hostel is going to have 100 rooms, 50 for males and 50 for females and the Sigma Chief from then on will be the number one occupant of the Hostel. “Loyal Sigmites are as expected to be specially favoured but the hostel will be opened to all” he said.
Also revealed at the Press Conference was the Sigma Guest Luncheon – an annual event always marked by the induction of eminent personalities into the Sigma Honorary Roll of Honour. For this year, the Emir of Kano and erstwhile governor of CBN – Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido II is to be inducted. According to the Sigma Chief, he is to step in the shoes of his predecessor, Alhaji Ado Bayero CFR who was inducted 1977 as an Honorary Sigmite.
The Guest Luncheon is set to take place at John Paul II to mark the 68th anniversary of Sigma on the 6th of October, 2018. The venue which is just 400 capacities makes the event strictly by invitation and is to be graced by eminent personalities in Nigeria such as politicians and royal fathers as well as principal officers of the University.
