CELEBROGRAPHY: MEET OUR VERY OWN COMEDIAN, MC TWINKLE
I am single to stupor. And the reason is because a lot of people take we comedians for a joke. Anytime we say anything, they believe we are joking. Even when we are really into people, they think is a joke. No one takes us serious.
This week, the press had an interview with our very own in faculty of Arts comedian, MC Twinkle
AFAS PRESS: Can you briefly introduce yourself
MC Twinkle : I am MC Twinkle. I will like to keep my real name to myself. Everyone addresses me as Twinkle and that’s ok. Reason being that, I really want to get famous with the name. I want the name to become an household name. It definitely starts from this level. Many don’t know my name and I will like it to remain like that.
AFAS PRESS : What your course of study and level?
MC Twinkle: I am a student of acting and management, department of theatre art. 300 level
AFAS PRESS: What motivated you to study theatre art? Did you choose it or you were given?
MC Twinkle : Talking about theatre art, I picked theatre art. I actually wanted to study theatre art. Before I gained admission, I had always been part of the church drama, I was exposed to acting. I was also with an acting troop and we usually perform poems from WAEC and junior WAEC and others. It was like a dream come true when I was admitted. Theatre art has always been my thing right from time.
AFAS PRESS : What is your relationship status?
MC Twinkle: I am single to stupor. And the reason is because a lot of people take we comedians for a joke. Anytime we say anything, they believe we are joking. Even when we are really into people, they think is a joke. No one takes us serious.
AFAS PRESS: What else do you do apart from school?
MC Twinkle : Im in theatre act and so I act. I anchor events and I am a comedian,I am an MC, I act, I dance, I sing, I do anything entertainment. Outside school am an entertainer, in fact, if not for education and school, I can stay full time, because they is basically what fits me.
AFAS PRESS: How have you been combining being a comedian and a student?
MC Twinkle : It is like the hardest thing to do. Infact I can tell you that my GP is in tears at the moment. It is not easy. But of course, we all have priorities and for me my work is my priority. It has been really hard and God has been helping and extra effort too.
AFAS PRESS: What is your advice to other AFASITES? I would like you to advise two set of students the regular students and those who have a business idea or those who wish to be a comedian or a MC like you.
MC Twinkle: To the students, my advice to them is to keep doing what they are doing. They should be smart because nobody will remind them that they are already approaching final year or that they will soon graduate from UI and you will not have anything to do again. Nobody will remind them that they will no longer receive allowance from their parent. My advice to them is to wake up, find what they can do; they should start doing it now. The earlier the better. Just start now and who knows where they might get from now.
My advice to the entrepreneur and talented people that don’t know how to go about it:
The thing is that, nobody will push you, nobody will tell you to do it. You just have to motivate yourself. You just have to surround yourself with the right set of people. One of the things that help me was that, I surrounded myself with the right set of people. My class mates, senior colleague, with the right set of people, it did not cost me so much. So I push myself. Another thing is to meet people. I am also interested in people who want to learn comedy, MC and others. Walk up to people who can help you and surround yourself with the right set of people.
AFAS PRESS: How far do you want to go with this?
MC Twinkle : I want to go beyond the shores of Nigeria God helping.
AFAS PRESS: What is your greatest motivation
MC Twinkle: The fact that I love what am doing is what motivates me. I also have lots of responsibilities and so I have to double up.
