UI EMERGES ONLY NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY TO MAKE 2021 QS RANKING
The University of Ibadan has emerged as the only Nigerian University to make this year’s QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Ranking by Subjects. This was made known after Quacquarelli Symonds, global higher education analysts, released the 2021 edition of the QS Rankings by Subject on Wednesday, the 3rd of March, 2021. With two ranked programmes from one institution in this year’s subject rankings, UI made the list for the study of Medicine and Agriculture & Forestry. Nigeria is the 76th most-represented country in the world to make the list.
In the same vein, 10 professors of the university have made the list of top 2% scientists in the world. Among those listed are Prof. Guruje, Prof. Farombi, Prof. B.O. Osuntokun, Prof. AIruoa Okeke, Prof. Akin Sowumi, Prof. L. Salako, Prof. S.A. Odunfa and Prof. Olusegun Ekundayo
Prof. Gureje, a Professor of Psychiatry ranked number one in the field of Psychiarty and Prof. Farombi, a Professor of Biochemistry & Toxicology ranked number one Toxicologist in Nigeria and top 1% in the world.
