HOUSE ADDRESSES ISSUES SURROUNDING THE PRODUCTION OF ID CARDS

In the emergency sitting held by the Faculty Legislative Council, the House addressed issues surrounding the production of ID cards. AFAS President, Eniola Francis, had earlier sent a letter to the House, stating that there had been an increase in the price of production of the ID cards.

This increase in price and the issues surrounding it raised other questions as to why the President did not make the contract open to all AFASites, as well as questions on the use and importance of the ID cards.

After back and forth on the issue, two motions were raised. The first being that the ID cards be scrapped; and the second motion being that the contract be awarded to an Afasite at a reasonable price. The votes were in favour of the second motion. The House then decide that only AFASites should be awarded the contract. The House further gave the President the liberty to award the contract to any of the two best proposals that had been selected.
