School of Science, Oyo Emerges Winner of the 2022 Roseline Etuokwu Sigma Secondary Quiz Competition.

The School of Science, Oyo emerged as the winner of the 2022 Roseline Etuokwu Sigma Secondary Quiz competition held today 27th May 2022 at the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan.

The competition which was the grand finale of the quiz featured 10 secondary schools across Oyo state that survived the preliminary rounds to the finals stage of the competition.

The initial preliminary stage was contested by 294 schools and the zonal rounds was contested by 33 schools across the state.

This event was graced by prominent personalities which include; The Honorable Commissioner for Education represented by Mr Adeyemo Olusegun; The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan represented by Professor Fakolade, the Dean of Faculty of Education; Mr Gani Adeniran, Chairman of the Occasion as well as Dr Demola Lewis, Deputy Dean, Student Affairs and others.

Speaking at the event, the representative of the Commissioner of Education, Adeyemo Oluwasegun commended Sigma Club for organizing the quiz competition as it’s geared towards the development of education in Oyo state.

“The state Ministry of Education, science and Technology is delighted to Partner the Organizers of this event because the ministry believes in the project which is aimed at contributing to the development of the nation through educational programs for students both private and Public Schools across the state.”

The school of Science, Òyó which came top with a total point of 71% was awarded the sum of N250,000; Bishop Philip Academy, second position with 67% was gifted the sum of N150,000; Government College, Ibadan, third position with 63% also received N100,000.

Reacting to the victory, Mr Oladoja, the chaperone of School of Science, Oyo said, “We are so excited. In short, this is worth celebrating” said Mr. Oladoja, a teacher of the winning School.
